Disclaimer: Stove performance is affected
by many factors, including:
- How the wood is stacked inside the stove
- Operator experience
- What type of wood is burned
- How strong your draft is
- Many other factors
All these conditions make predicting how your stove will
perform more of an art than a science. The manufacturer's ratings were
derived from carefully monitored, scientific tests. In most cases they
publish a maximum burn time and maximum heat output, which they measured
in two separate tests. However, as heat output increases, burn time goes
down. As a result, the heat output published by manufacturers cannot usually
be reached at the maximum burn times they claim.
Our ratings are based on our own "real world" experience.
We feel it is a more accurate predictor of stove performance. With good
wood and optimum conditions, the heat outputs we claim should be achievable
at the burn times we claim.
We make our recommendations as accurate as possible, but
cannot guarantee that your stove will perform exactly as shown in the
specifications.
